Financial support of the measures for crime prevention by local authorities (regional experience)

Abstract

The author provides a brief review of one of the most important functions of local authorities, that is to ensure law and order, protection of rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens. Special attention is focused on close collaboration between local authorities and lawenforcement agencies especially at the regional level and at the level of regional centres. The author insists on the financial support of the measures for crime prevention being provided not only by the state government but by local authorities as well. We can take the experience of a nu mber of regional centres of Ukraine as a model. The author offers to have a look at the Chernihiv experience in the implementation of the program of financial support of ensuring public safety and order in the city.
